Cork vs alternative wine closures

The author reports on an interesting experiment – at the beginning of the year he began counting the number of corked wines he came across relative to the number of wines he sampled. In terms of counting bottles, he only counted those that he had personally checked, excluding those that had been checked by someone else first or that used some type of alternative closure (screwcap, glass stopper, plastic cork).
